Charles B. Hall (1920 ~ 1971)


First Tuskegee Airman to shoot down a German

aircraft on July 2, 1943 over North Africa.  Brazil


Class of 1938, attended Eastern Ill. University on

pre-med scholarship.  Inducted into the Indiana

Veteran's Military Hall of Fame 2015.  Son,

Charles (Teddy) Hall ran in the Bicentennial

Torch Run 2016 in memory of his father.







Ivan William Fuqua (1909~1994)

Fuqua graduated from Brazil High School in 

1930 and went on to attend Indiana University

where at the 1932 Summer Olympics held

in Los Angeles won the gold medal in the

4x400 m relay.  He was an AAU champ in

in the 400 m in 1933 and 1934.  He retired 

from Brown University in 1973 as the head 

coach.  Luke Peduto, great grandson, ran

in Bicentennial Torch Run 2016 in memory

of Ivan.




George North Craig (1909~1992)



39th Governor of the State of Indiana (1952-1956)

He was declared by the Indiana Historical Society

as "one of the most important Indiana Governors

of the 20th Century".  In 1949 he was elected the

American Legion National Commander.  Inducted

into the IMVHOF November 4, 2016.









Betty Chadwick Sullivan (1925-1981)


Brazil High School Class of 1944.  She worked at

the Brazil Times as business manager until 1958

when she accepted employment at WTHI-TV as a

news photographer.  She was the first woman photo-

grapher in this field and appeared on CBS's "To

Tell the Truth". In 1979 she became executive

producer 
of WTHI's news program.

James Riddle Hoffa (1913-1975)


James Hoffa was born February 14, 2013 to John and
Viola (Riddle) Hoffa.  John Hoffa died in 1920 and is
buried in Cottage Hill Cemetery. In 1924 the Hoffa family moved to Detroit where his mother found work. With Hoffa's work and leadership, the Teamsters membership rose from 75,000 members to over 1 million.  On July 30, 1975 Hoffa disappeared and his body has never been recovered.
